[It's cold. He's just seeking warmth.]

impossible to resist. :D nurse_cchapel September 23 2010, 18:43:29 UTC
[If Christine is both suprised and delighted at this, she's not letting either emotion show on her face, just a little bit of worry as she glances down at him and pulls the blanket tighter around him.]

You'll be alright.

I a-apologize. I am extremely sensitive to the cold. [A shiver runs through his body and he presses closer to her without realizing he's doing so. He won't deny a sense happiness at being so close to the woman he's grown fond of, but he wishes the circumstances were far pleasanter.]

I know. It's fine. [She shifts slightly to accomidate him, rubbing her hand against his arm while her other, fingers annoyingly numb, try her communicator again, to no avail. Since she still has her medical kit and it hasn't started snowing yet, there's ways this could get worse. It's her one consolation, aside from the slightly abstract enjoyment of Spock cuddling her.]

((ooc: don't worry about it, I love you and your delightful Spock anyway. ♥))

[Spock buries his nose against her shirt, the appendage among the first to have gone numb from the cold. He closes his eyes against the seemingly inevitable arrival of his own death-by-freezing and breathes in short puffs. When he speaks his words are slightly muffled.] The likelihood of our surviving this is... quite low. It grieves me that you are here; though you should know of all the people I could share the last hours of my life with - I am pleased it is you beside me.

((ooc: That pleases me greatly, as I am quite enamored of you and Christine as well. <3))

[It's a moment before she can respond. Despite the thought having crossed her own mind, hearing him say it makes it sound like the most likely outcome, instead of just one of two equals.] Don't be ridiculous. They'll find us. [Dropping the communicator between them, she reaches for his hand, wrapping her hand around his wrist, checking his pulse with two fingers. It's thready at best and she only hesitates a moment before shifting to sit on his lap, straddling him as she wraps herself around him, pressing their chests together, wanting him warm again.]

[He wants to tell her that the chances of them being found before they've frozen to death are less than 5%, but he can't bring himself to utter the depressing statistic; not when she believes there is still hope. And their captain has always been one to defy statistics, why should that stop now? When she slides into his lap he tenses up for a moment in surprise, then wraps his arms around her; pulling her closer for the warmth she emits even when cold.] Of course... Thank you, Christine.

I think now is a good time to have a lot of faith in our crew, Mister Spock. That's all. And I most certainly am not letting you die anytime soon. You'll have to suffer at least until hypothermia takes me if you want to do that. [She lets go of him momentarily to brush her hair over her shoulder, sure it's not in his face as she settles her chin on his shoulder and wraps her arms around him again.]

I trust that if anyone is to find us it will be our crew. [He shifts slightly on the cold stone floor.] If I am to be forced to live, then you must suffer as well. I would feel indecent to be found hugging a corpse. [And honestly? If Chris died he'd be pretty damn upset.]

[As horribly unfunny as the situation is, that's so much like a genuinely human joke that she has to laugh a little, soft and shortlived though her amusement may be.] Yes, sir, no dying all around.

[His sense of humor has definitely evolved where Christine Chapel is concerned, and it makes him a little less tense to hear her short laugh. His grip on her slackens, and he leans more fully against the stone wall behind him. He's beginning to feel sluggish and lethargic, though the cocoon of their warmth has aided him a great deal.] If I see you begin to slip, I will make it an order.

As medical officer of the mission, rest assured I will do the same. Whether or not it's technically allowed. [She shifts her arms to let him lean back more comfortably, resting one hand idly on the back of his head. It's cold, yes, but she's far from complaining, not when her body can handle temperatures significantly colder than his can.]

[Their positioning is incredibly intimate, and Spock allows himself a moment of quiet introspection. Her fingers are soft at the back of his head, her body is warm and comfortable above him. He has very few memories to contrast this situation with, but he thinks - freezing temperatures and possible imminent demise aside - that it is far pleasanter than all of them. Perhaps not pleasanter, but more comfortable.

Maybe the relaxed atmosphere is a result of his body shutting down.

He wonders, for a moment, if all moments of such intimacy he shares with women will be under extreme circumstances. The death of his mother spurred Nyota, and now the possibility of hypothermia spurs Christine.

His eyelids droop a little, and he feels like sleeping.]

((ooc: Baaah, the lover of romantic drama in me is creeping in. I feel like something should happen in this thread that shifts their friendship somehow. What do you think?

[After a few minutes of silence, she pulls back slightly, just enough to be sure of his breath on her cheek as she tries to catch his eyes with her own.]

I think you ought to keep talking with me, Mister Spock. Can't have you falling asleep.

((ooc: Ooo, yes, that could be fun. Do you have anything specific in mind? If nothing else, she will be showing up at his quarters in the middle of the night to check on him (read: get hugs because she can't sleep) after this.))

[Spock jerks just slightly at the sound of her voice, rousing from his lapse into a frigid dreamscape. He feels just a little disoriented.] I was not sleeping. [His words are a bit slow, and a hint defensive. It was foolish to let himself fall asleep, and he feels embarrassed to have dozed even so lightly.] I was merely thinking.

I didn't say you were sleeping. [She echoes that bit of defensiveness in her own voice. Even slight bickering is better than him being quiet and making her panic.] What were you thinking about?

[For a moment he can't remember what he'd been thinking about, and his defensiveness vanishes to be replaced by nagging annoyance. It doesn't last, his sluggish brain produces the information he wants eventually, but it's only after several long seconds of silence.] Intimacy.

I was pondering the intimacy of our situation and contrasting it to prior situations. I concluded that intimacy only occurs between myself and other living beings as a result of extreme, life threatening situations.

((ooc: okay, I even forget to reply to ooc comments that I start, and that I am actively thinking about. xD I am so much epic fail. I was thinking something like a conversation or actions which show they would be comfortable to move into a more meaningful and intimate relationship. That doesn't necessarily mean romance, unless you're game for it. Haha, my ooc comment is nearly as long as my actual post.))
