Yer' telling me the destruction of Earth hadn't bothered you in th'slightest? Now see here; I'm a doctor, not a theoretical physicist, an' I don't know how this alternate reality thing works. But it's got to be at least a little distressin' that yer' whole damn planet's gone!
damn straight douglas adams represent.astromathFebruary 28 2010, 20:34:06 UTC
It is. I mean, I'm sure it is. But it just feels too big. When I think about the little things I'll never see again, like my landlord's dog or Starbucks coffee, that hurts. But the Earth as a whole concept, in itself, all the little things together, coffee and dogs and highways and ozone, it's almost like it can't even have happened, so how am I supposed to react to it?
i was always partial to zaphod. (in the book, anyways)get_me_a_drinkFebruary 28 2010, 21:55:35 UTC
[Mutters] Post-traumatic-stress-disorder'll do that t'ya. [Sniffs, then straightens out a little, crossing his arms] Anyway yer' feelin's take you, I 'sppose. But if it does come around t'bother you, don't try to fight that, because when y'do finally feel the full brunt of your planet bein' obliterated, it's goin' t'be nasty. Trust me, I have a, ah, acquaintance that still tries t'play off his planet bein' destroyed as water under the bridge 'rsomethin'.
ford's my favourite, personally, but zaphod is abfab, no denying.astromathFebruary 28 2010, 22:14:28 UTC
It would be nice if I could know when it's going to happen, so I could plan around it. How long does a total emotional breakdown usually take? Pretty certain I haven't had one before.
ford lmao god i haven't read the books in forever, you're making me want to reread themget_me_a_drinkFebruary 28 2010, 22:24:44 UTC
Y'know, my psychological training is about equivalent to that of a high school first-aid course, so I'll be completely honest in sayin' I got no damn idea. [Shrugs, and sighs] My best advice would be t'give yer'self a little dose of reality every now an' then because you seem t'be a complete space cadet, ma'am.
