[tries to think of something comforting to say, but ends up giving up and just hugging her]

I know. [squeezes tighter] Mental health is just as important as physical health.

[hops up on one of the biobeds once she pulls away from the hug, her feet tapping at the air a little bit] I guess I just wasn't expecting to miss them this much. I'm sure they're fine, but it's different than being away at academy where I could get in touch with them pretty much whenever I wanted.

So do I. When's the last time you saw them?

It's only been a few months, but it feels like a lot longer than that.

[nods] Every day feels more like a week to me.

So is it just Mom and Dad, or do you have siblings too?

Doesn't it? Sometimes that's really awesome, but it's not so great at the moment.

Just my two brother, actually. I haven't seen my parents in a long time.

(looks up from her PADD and quietly puts an arm around her)

[hay, bff, she's just going to lean into you a little bit] Not to be a Debbie Downer or anything, but it just kind of hit me.

(hayy back bff, squeezes shoulders a bit) I think about it often, too. I sometimes forget how far we are.

I guess I should have just prepared myself better for it. I talked to my brothers all the time while I was at school, not realizing I'd have the chance as often once I was put on a Starship.

I don't exactly miss home or anything, I love being out here. I just wish it were easier to stay in touch, I guess.

Do you have any brothers or sisters, Mr. Scott?

Older brother, younger sister. S'my nieces an' nephews I miss the most though.

Two younger brothers. And hopefully no new nieces or nephews since I left. I'm sure they're looking out for each other, though.
