The Failing Dutchman
So, today was the big ROV challenge.
The Flying Dutchman II had some issues which prompted us to re-christen it the Failing Dutchman. (We joked that it was because I wore my Captain Jack shirt today and didn't wear my Davy Jones key.
) First, it was sinking, (which it wasn't last week
) so we had to take off some ballast. Then a prop fell off. Then it fell off again. And again.
Some sting for one challenge got tangled in our props.
Overall, my partner and I did pretty well until our right motor stopped working. (A wire broke during the last challenge and we didn't know until later.
)
My partner did a good job following my verbal instructions and I think that may have earned us some extra points.
We went out for ice cream after school and my partner treated. Wanted to slap the employee that served us. "How does she know which bills are which?"
(FYI, her mom told her it was a five on top and a ten on bottom.)
Had a pretty good day. I was smart and wore shorter pants and flip-flops to the pool. I could sit on the side and stick my feet in the water.
Now I smell like chlorine and that's bringing back memories of swimming lessons and my Auntie's pool.
I'm in the middle of watching Schindler's List and Voldemort is in it! (OMG, Ralph Fiennes
) He's the supremely evil Nazi. Did you know he put on 14kg (30 lbs) for that part by drinking Guinness?
Did you also know that the British weight measurement "stone" is about 14 lbs? (I'm such a nerd...)
