The Holodeck Malfunction Meme!
We all like to kick back a little between shore leaves and spend some time on the holodeck, right? (Shh, I know they weren't invented by TOS, but whatever.) But sometimes technology gets the better of us.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Post with your character. If you have preferences/limits, please put them in the subject.
2. Others will comment with a pair of numbers in the subject (either rolled randomly or chosen) that describe the GENRE and SCENARIO. Alternately, you can choose these at the start, if you're dead-set on something. It's up to you guys whether the "effects" are felt by both parties.
3. Have at it! But make sure that you and your partner agree on your limits. I'm leaving this open to everything from fluff to smut, so please communicate.
4. BE CREATIVE! These are suggestions. Make up your own, elaborate, or combine them!
GENRE
1. Historical! Go back in time and explore another way of life.
2. Action! Sometimes you need to get your kicks without risking life and limb.
3. Fluff! Need to relax? This is the perfect way to wind down.
4. Romance/Sex! What happens on the holodeck stays on the holodeck, right?
5. Crack! Anything can happen, and often does.
6. It's All in Your Mind! The holodeck has gained access to your brainwaves and thought patterns, and is determined to play with them.
HISTORICAL
1. Favorite Story You've programmed in your favorite novel/legend/movie and now you're part of the action!
2. 20th Century Oh, the old days of the internal combustion engine and capitalism. Pick a time, and visit it!
3. Old West Are you the sheriff? The outlaw? A schoolmarm? Ride the fences or win the shootout.
4. Costume Drama Whether it's Jane Austen, Jane Eyre, or Oscar Wilde, you're in a world of manners and lace and, possibly, intrigue!
5. Alternate Future So maybe we never figured out how to feed everyone and make peace with the Vulcans. Is it the mirror!verse? A dystopia? Another vision of the shining future?
6. Steampunk Whatever else, you do look rakish in those goggles and leather boots.
ACTION
1. On the Bridge There's an incident with another ship, or enemy fire. Do you believe in the no-win scenario? Are you in command, or following orders?
2. Shore Leave You're supposed to be relaxing. But who doesn't enjoy a good brawl with the locals, or your fellow crew members?
3. Horror Vampires? Zombies? A haunted house? What's your (dis)pleasure?
4. Pirates Sail the high seas, or be a space pirate.
5. Kidnapping/Stranded You've been kidnapped! Or, maybe you're stranded in a cave/on an island. How do you survive?
6. To the Death! You're in the battle of a lifetime. Or maybe it just feels like that. Sparring is serious business.
FLUFF
1. Cabin You're on vacation, in a cozy little cabin in the woods, or on the beach.
2. Old Friends You haven't seen each other in so long. Time to catch up.
3. Family It's lonely out in space. You're now with your family! Whether you were related before or not. How is up to you.
4. Comfort Forget the hurt--let's skip straight to the comfort part.
5. If I Weren't In Starfleet, I'd... What did you want to be when you grew up? You can do that, now.
6. Celebration! It's your birthday! Or maybe you've received a promotion. Either way, time to celebrate!
ROMANCE/SEX
1. First Date A French cafe? A walk on a beach on Rigel II? It's a first date, it can be what you want.
2. Random Encounter You're not really looking for romance. Just someone new, someone different.
3. Dark Fantasies Maybe you can't play these out in real life. Just make sure your partner is on board (at least OOC).
4. Roleplay Time to try something new! You (and your partner) can be anyone here!
5. Forbidden Love You can't! But you must! Romeo & Juliet, commander and subordinate, separated by time or space or species or (*ahem*) a close blood relationship, you can realize it here.
6. Proposal/Wedding/Domestic Bliss Sometimes we just want to live out the juicy parts.
CRACK
1. Body/Sex-Swap You've exchanged bodies! Or, one (or both) of you are now a different sex!
2. Species Swap You've always wanted to know what being Vulcan is really like. Or Andorian. Or Caitian. Or maybe you're a puppy.
3. Fairy Tale Are you an elf? A fairy? Sleeping Beauty or Prince Charming?
4. De-aging You're a kid. Or reliving those angsty teenage years. Or maybe you've been propelled forward in time to an attractive maturity. Are you still you, or have you regressed?

5. Memories You're reliving a memory, but is it good or bad? Can you change the outcome?
6. Telepathy Suddenly you can hear the other person's thoughts. Uh. They can probably hear yours, too.
