Pairing: Jared/Jensen
Word Count: 468
Summary: Jared knows his boyfriend is a geek and wonders how no one else has come to this conclusion.
Notes: This has been kicking around in my head for a while. I've been adding to it and now present it to you all. Enjoy!
Jared believes that the thing a lot of people don't know about Jensen Ackles, those people who see him as Dean Winchester or when he's on his game at a con, is that he's a total geek.
Not just about stuff pertaining to his work either, though he's addicted to Inside The Actor's Studio and had done such a phenomenal job in his directorial debut because he'd been asking questions and absorbing all the technical information from day one on set.
No, Jensen's a sci-fi loving, comic book reading geek. He went as the Batman villain Scarecrow this past Halloween. When he got the gig to voice Red Hood, he'd spent twenty minutes talking about how happy he was to get his foot in the door in the voice over world (and Inside The Voice Actor's Studio became his new obsession) and then took the next two hours to tell Jared how excited he was to be forever part of the 'world of Batman'. He'd actually phrased it that way.
And please, don't ask Jensen about doing a voice for the Tron: Evolution video game if you plan on going anywhere for the next three hours. Ditto with The 3rd birthday, since when the call for came in for that one Jensen had literally danced around their kitchen, singing, “I'mma be in video games, I'mma be in video games.” During dinner that night, he'd waxed lyrical about how cool it was that the main character was a girl and whether or not to use his 'Dean' voice for Kyle, and Jared found himself nodding a lot to things he didn't understand.
And it does a lot of good for Jared's piece of mind that when Jensen's hanging with Danni in L.A., they spend their time catching up on The Big Bang Theory and Eureka (and apparently, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, for which Jared will never stop mocking Jensen. Ever).
As much as Jensen cringes at some of the fan's questions, has a strict policy of what he will and won't discuss at a panel, he nonetheless knows just where they're coming from. Jared was there at Comic-Con when they met Stan Lee. Jared had been enthusiastic, but Jensen had been reverential. Jared kept half his attention on his boyfriend, certain at any moment he was going to drop to his knees and start worshiping. Much the same had happened when they met Joss Whedon and the next year, J.J. Abrams.
No, the thing that confuses Jensen about their fans is why they're so crazy about a dork like him. He asks Jared that exact question from time to time as well. Jared tends to shrug, grab a cookie from the Cylon cookie jar on the counter and just kiss any of Jensen's lingering doubts away.
