Yesterday I got a package from Ray aka
Grendizer on cosplay.com. In it was a
Chicagoland Cosplay Club (C^3) 2008 Award of excellence clear plaque. That was pretty surprising since I did not receive one at the picnic (not that I was expecting to anyway, it's just about having fun.) Oh and Anne and Yui, you both won awards... I don't know if Ray has contacted you about that. Gah I should really blog about the picnic...
Anyways I went into my private messages over at cosplay.com and found this from Ray:
"Berry,
I just noticed that the letter I was going to put in your package is still sitting on my desk. I'm having flashbacks of forgetting matches for the grill.
Anyway, since I had extra awards made I'm at liberty to parse them out at my discretion. Out of the members from 5 years ago I'd say you and I are the most active. I'm more visible posting on the boards but you are always in the wings keeping our forums in check and keeping the membership up to date.
Having the polls for the picnic awards was a nice democratic way to choose individuals for recognition. However I think you should be given an 'Award of Excellence' for all the things you've done for the club that is behind the scenes and thus beneath everyone's notice. So I hope you feel at least a modicum of appreciation that you richly deserve.
The letter was more eloquent, but you get the idea.
Congratulations, again!"
I was really touched. I really can't believe it has been 5 years since C^3 was created. It just amazes me when I think of all the friendships and people I know because of the club, and that have grown BEYOND the club. And I think of the Mitsuwa meets, Little Red School house, past picnics, the spring gathering at Ray's house, manning the C^3 booth at ACen in 2005...
I only hope that we can continue for 5 more years, and beyond!
