Ok… so remember that ice storm last Tuesday the 4th? Well… coming home from work, I was making a left hand turn when my car started sliding… right into a curb. My right front tire pretty much took a beating. The hub cap was cracked and damaged, the rim was bent, and my car had a huge wobble.
Before I left work though, I had talked with my Progressive agent, Jeremiah, about my accident and he set up an appointment for it to get fixed that Friday. Well, after I made it home from this new accident I called him, saying that he would send a tow truck the next day (since it was not safe to drive) and that he would set me up with a rent-a-car for discounted rates.
Needless to say I took last Wednesday off. And they towed my car, made two estimates (one for my accident damage - deductible of $500) and one for my recent tire damage (around $150 - out of pocket for me).
Fast forward to yesterday… my car was ready to be picked up. Nikki and Tim drove me there. Bumper and everything looks as good as new, better even! So I drove home... and one guy beeped at me, pulled up next to me and said my back tire was wobbling badly. I’m thinking WTF?
Got home…. And turns out the BODY SHOP NEVER FIXED MY TIRE DAMAGE, even though they had every message available telling them to fix it the first time.
So, today my Insurance agent apologized up and down saying that they dropped the ball and were very sorry and basically are bending over backwards for me. Even going so far as to pay the tire damage, tow, and another reduced rate on a new rent-a-car (which I just got back from getting). Whew… so all I have to worry about is the tow picking up my car in a hour then I can finally get this all behind me.
Oh and by the way, Michigan had this little thing called “Deductible Reimbursement” so it might take 2 - 6 months, but there is a chance I will have my $500 deductible refunded to me. So the best scenario… I pay nothing for all of this and my car looks better, or the worst… I’m out the $500.
Whew.
