The Summer Update

Aug 02, 2007 23:56

It's been awhile since I've made a solid, decent update. I guess finding the time to sit down and write is hard for me. I love my job, it is quite busy and fulfilling, but come evening I want to unwind, see Leyann, or watch a movie, or play video games, or just get some sleep or hang out with Tim and Nikki or other friends. Weekends are more like " ( Read more... )

Ok, this is practically nothing to do with your introspective post, but since you are on the staff of ACen, Mike Dent had a mini rant on RC the other day (the ep isn't up yet) about how he and others try to bring up getting rangers but the staff doesn't even consider it. Do you know anything about that?

But yeah, I'm also afraid of being a Jack...er....Jill of all trades. You ain't alone ;)

Um Yah we have been trying to get Rangers. I've been one of the main ones trying to get them, along with Keith Justice and Mike.

Here is a qoute from the Conchair himself in an email that was sent out to staff.

"We have already brought many guests of the above genres into ACen, so to answer your question, we are already doing it. We bring in new forms of entertainment, which in turn, appeal to a broader fan base and thereby bring new attendees into the convention. As long as we continue to
provide what our current fans have come to expect and at the same time generate new entertainment based upon other popular sub-genres for our attendees, we will be successful in expanding and growing to compete with the other events in our market.

Personally, I am a huge fan of Kaiju, Kyodai Hero, and the other genres of Tokusatsu entertainment. I have been pushing for us to get Sentai/Power Ranger guests, both domestic and Japanese. We came very close to that this year and I hope to see it become a Hopefully, that will become a reality ( ... )

Even though I brought it up at the feedback meeting, they seemed sort of lackluster to get it going.

Even though the fanbase gets bigger every year it seems.

- What questions do you have about me? What do you want to know?
If I'd have any, I'd just ask you. ;p

- Is there anything specific you want to know regarding my work, etc, etc, etc or anything else?
Kirk or Picard, man? I think I came to the humble conclusion your the only other person I know that is into Star Trek. Even though I'm not a huge fan, but I did grow up watching Next Gen and Voyager.

- What can we do to get to know each other more?
I like the meet-ups and stuff. Thinking of starting a traveling geek movie night...

- How do you feel about our friendship? All good on that dude.

Yah at last year's feedback/planning meeting Jayson and I brought up ranger guests... same reaction... moans and uninterest. AND BERYL WAS THERE!

I'll probably start up another ranger thread for guests on the ACEN forums.

My screen name isn't trekkieb47 for nothing.

I'm a Kirk man myself. I love Shatner, I would go gay for Shatner. He kicks ass, gets the ladies, and gets the job done. Picard is cool, but talks too much.

My fave trek series in order from favorite to least favorite (even though I love them all):

1. Enterprise
2. Star Trek
3. Deep Space 9
4. Voyager
5. Next Gen (but this is the series that got me into trek, seriously "least favorite" has a very slim margin between my favorite. Think of this as a if this show wasn't on, I'd watch this other one instead order.)

My order goes somewhere along this:

1. Voyager
2. Next Gen
3. Enterprise
4. Star Trek
5. Deep Space 9

Voyager and Next Gen I used to watch with my mom like religiously. She had a thing for Picard. Enterprise I liked at first, but got into other things at the time. And the original Trek I only saw on Scifi when I was a wee one. And DS9 is like "What? Who?" never got into that one at all.

I think I might go gay for Seven of Nine, (who wouldn't?) but yeah.

I saw Jeri Ryan's cleaveage from above at the old Viacom store when I was 16 when she was doing a signing.

:P

Well that's underwhelming. It's like saying, "We don't want more people coming to the convention. We don't need to make more money. Sorry guys!"

Ugh, the potential of it all. I'll wait for your uber long post ;)
