I hope everyone's Easter weekend was fun. Even if you aren't Catholic or a Christian, or whatever.. I still hope you had a good weekend.
Recently, well most of this year... I haven't blogged much. Is my spark at writing going? Am I losing the urge to talk about myself... no.. that's not it. Oh wait I know... ACEN. Yah... the convention.. that Anime and Manga convention... the one I'm Production Designer on. Between all of the meetings, floods of emails, phone calls, and working on the Program book, I really haven't had the energy or focus to sit down and really WRITE.
It got so bad, that I had to retire my Star Trek sim character. Laugh if you must, but that Andorian alter ego has been around for more than 8 years. I've stopped simming before, during other busy periods of my life. My last big break was when I stopped simming during a year in college. It is funny though how a sim just seems to die after I stop writing on it. It has happened to every sim I've left. I'm not bragging... but once I get into a story, I tend to make it flow along and get really involved. Sometimes it seems to the point that other writers get lazy and don't come up with plot points to move the basic storyline along, relying on me to come up with some crazy ass way to get us out of a situation. I really hoped that wouldn't happen with Epsilon Station. I had been simming with this particular sim ever since January 2004, coming back from a 2 year break of not writing. Everything was great, EXCELLENT writers, an amazing Captain, and intense storylines.
Gah... anyway.
Speaking of ACEN, the Program Book is done. And off to the printers. Hopefully we get to see a proof tonight or tomorrow. I hope everyone appreciates the amount of work that went into this. All of the sleepness nights that the artists and the designer went through to get this finished... with the fewest amount of mistakes possible. I think a lot of people will be blown away by the art... all new art on every single page. None of those same images that were used over and over for the program book for the past 5 years. It's a fresh take on the AOI sisters, Jaye and Elle, and also Kit.
Now I sound like an infomercial. But hey when do I not? I'm in Advertising after all...
- Leyann and I had a great 2 year anniversary. I got Leyann a Multipass. Now that ACEN work is done, I can spend a weekend and finish the kit. We went out to dinner and it was fun. I highly recommend the food at Yu's Mandarin in Schaumburg on Golf Road. The atmosphere was great (when they led us into the dining area without all of the people), the food was excellent (the orange chicken had a real kick to it), and the service was good (wait, come back with my leftovers!).
- My friend Deanna dreambelieve is engaged! Congrats!
- Leyann's best friend Linda got engaged and married... in like the course of a couple weeks. We went to the reception. Had very good Mexican food. I had my first Corona. Leyann's back hurt.
- My Dad has a slipped disk in his spine. He is getting an MRI this week.
- My brother Matthew tripped in the yard, landed his knee on a piece of metal... slicing it open to the knee cap, requiring him to be in the hospital for 5 hours for 40-something stitches inside and outside of his knee, and a tetanus shot.
- Leyann and I have 2 out of the 1000 Magi King Complete editions. Yes.. 1000. In the entire world. And I got two. (Note, I did not buy these off this site.. this site just had the best pictures.) The quality is amazing, they added all new paint details, metallic paint no less, and an extra accessory used in the show... but did not come with the original figure.
- My apartment complex has been sold to condo developers. Will I have to move again in September? Will we be able to renew another year lease? Will they tell us what the hell is going on?
- I am planning a massive campaign to sell my junk, not only to save space, but to make hopefully a lot of extra money.
