A few months ago, I read a Jim/Spock fanfic that I can't remember the title of anymore. I believe it was either a Oneshot or a two chapter AU story. In the story, something happens to a young Jim Kirk and he ends up on Vulcan where Sarek and Amanda raise him. Jim and Spock are very close friends, but an event leads either Spock or Jim to join Starfleet and leave their family behind. (I can't remember who exactly leaves.) Sometime later, they meet up again at Starfleet Academy. Jim hacks the Kobayashi Maru and confronts Spock at the hearing like in the movie, but they obviously know each other and are keeping it secret. The story basically retells the Reboot Movie but with Jim and Spock already knowing each other but hiding it from everyone else. The most important detail that I can recall that separates this story from others like it is where Spock sends Jim to Delta Vega, but his reasoning is to keep Jim safe from Nero. Eventually, they get back together in a happy ending.
