This was a fun but LONG week, I got my second book this week and it was in shambles. We had to renumber most of the samples after we dropped an assay mid week. So that meant that over 75% of the paperwork had to be redone and there was never a chain of custody was never printed out so I had to build that from scratch. It didn’t help that one of the people that had about 20% of the form was on vacation all that week I was trying to work on it. There was just a chain of bad luck for that one, it didn’t help at all that the person who had the book for the previous week was still working on her book so I couldn’t do a lot of the work in the computer when I wanted to because only one of use could use the computer. I end up doing two ten hour days and a nine hour day during the week so I could get the book done, and I am still not done with it, I hope to get it done early next week.
I got to see Kristin this weekend for a few hours so that was nice, she was up here with her mom, something about her mom driving her up here because they were all sick. Didn’t make since to me but hey I got to see her so it was all good. She needed a ride to a store to get a battier powered pepper grinder with a light… yes I asked the same thing and no she didn’t have a good answer. She insisted that she was deathly ill and that she was going to get me sick to but ones again my immune system did its job. So despite being around a sick person for the morning then walking around all night and being wet for part of it I didn’t even get so much as a headache.
The weekend though was a blast, I went to Universal studios and for there Halloween horror nights. Defiantly the best Halloween event I have ever been to, there were seven haunted house and three street sections and a show. Kevin and I had enough time to go to three of the haunted houses, all of the street sections and the show. We probably would have gotten to go to one more haunted house but we got rained on so we stopped to get some food.
The show was a blast. I think it was something like “Bill and Ted’s most excellent Halloween adventure. Basically it was kind of a spoof one pop culture over the year. They had Lex Luthor, Magneto, who was fallowed around by a guy in a green suit, you know because it was all CGI. A monk form the Di Vinci code, juggernaut who got turned into a woman and Davy Jones, for the bad guys. On the good guys we had a death dealer from Underworld who couldn’t shoot strait, gay superman, Captain Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth Swann, both drunk, and male and female versions of Bill and Ted. With appearances by David Hasselhoff and Kit, Samuel L. Jackson shooting snakes, then squirrels and finally babies, the super hero from “My super ex girlfriend”, the guy form 24 beating up a fat fan boy. It was hilarious, and I got molested by gay superman (that explains the tag line). But that’s what you get for sitting on the aisle at a show.
Of the three haunted houses we got to go to, the first one was not that good at all. But I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it was the first one that we went to so there weren’t many people and parts of it were open to the sky so it was well lit. Since were where some of the first ones through we went through really fast. It was kind of a subconscious thing, I mean I know there was nothing to be scared but still you didn’t want to loose back of the person in front of you no mater what happened, and since there weren’t many people ahead of us the line was going fairly fast. That and with parts open to daylight what might have looked scary in the dark just looked like that much foam rubber and ketchup. One part at the end though that was open to the sky, you found your self pushing through something, it’s a haunted house and you have to push through stuff all the time. As timing would have it though I pushed through something watching the guy with the butcher knife, something slams into me after being pushed out of the way by the guy in fount of me. I look up to see that I have been pushing through body bags in that room. Yep just a little creepy.
The next one we went to was themed after the Bates motel, that one was fun. The only real down side to this one was that it was me and Kevin, then two football players form UF in front of us and two basket ball players form FIT behind us. So all of the people inside used up as a reset time. One room was that one with the long catwalk and the room is a tub the spines and makes you feel like you are tipping. I found after we got out that the football players in front of us had been drinking all after noon and nearly throw up, needless to say vomiting in the spinning room would have been bad for all on the cat walk. The next really good room there was on with black walls and little glow in the dark eyes plastid all over the walls and a black light making them glow. They had people in there dressed all in black with the same eyes all over the body so they blended almost perfectly with the wall.
The last one we went through was based one horror movies, and the only haunted house were someone really jump out at me. The first room was the laundry room for the Halloween movie, then we had the garage from the Scream movie. As I left that room I passed a hallway looked down and saw a guy in a scream costume. I didn’t think anything of it, I mean no one had jumped at me yet, but as I am turning back I hear someone running, I look back just in time to see the guy charging at me butcher knife at the ready, made me jump into the guy in front of me. The next area was a kind of asylum set up, they had a girl there that looked like she was right out of “The ring” or “the Grudge” she had the grey white skin, was wearing a hospital gown and was had the long dark stringy hair draped in front of her face. Then there was the prison ward from “Silence of the lambs” when you get to Hannibal Lectors cell its empty and you turn a corner and he is just standing there in that mask of his.
The street sections were good to, there was one that was kind of a Sleepy hallow, Blair Witch thing. They had guys in scarecrow like outfits, and guys with pump can heads. Next they had one that was New York during a Zombie infestation, they had some great looking zombies, some were the classic lumbering zombies but others were the ones contemporary ones that run after you. There was a guy at one end with a blow horn making kind of public service announcements, one I remember was “At this time children under the age of 13 should be bounded gagged and be prepared to be used as bait.” I was a little disturbed by the zombie hookers.
The last street section was I think the best, it was the Blood Masquerade, this one was full of fog and vampires. I got a lot of pictures off that one and I am looking into getting some of them online probably at myspace.
Like I said it was a blast I can’t wait to go back next year. Although I did learn to valuable lesion, first next time get a bigger group. With just the two of use we ran out of stuff to talk about in line after a while. That and next time I have to go with a girl, not for the reason you think either. Its because the hole time I think something jumped out at me like 5 times, even at the haunted house, they don’t aim for me, they go for the women that they think they are going to get a scream out of.
