Author's Notes: This story was inspired by a prompter who was looking for Spock who is very similar to River from firefly. It sort of deviated and ended up as something else, but I thank anon for the inspiration none-the-less. This is set in the reboot 'verse but I feel a little Original!McCoy seeped in - which is no bad thing. All translations can be found in mouse-over.
Author's Summary: This is a story about getting lost and coming home. It’s also a story about friendship and love and never giving up. Also it’s about Bones McCoy who is far from perfect, Spock who is learning to be Spock again and James T. Kirk who is a genius.
An idiot - but also a genius.
Reccer's notes: This is what I consider "classic" hurt/comfort--essentially, Spock is captured on an away mission, and returns in pieces; the story evolves with how McCoy puts him back together, and how they put each other back together. McCoy, here, is cast in his traditional comforting/doctoring role, while Spock, who is usually a strong character, requires assistance he would not normally accept. I am normally a TOS Spock/McCoy shipper, and an AOS Kirk/McCoy shipper--but this is the kind of story where you can set it in either 'verse and it kind of works, and the pairing really works here too, at least for me. The story is really engaging and the hurt/comfort is delicious and lovely. I love Kirk in this too, even if he is idiotic and somewhat brutal, and if I said more, I think I'd ruin it--you have to read it for yourself. It's beautifully long, but I was still really disappointed when the end came--not that the end is disappointing, I was just really sad that there was no more left to read.
