Heh...

The topic at AGF was "Freedom." I know, it's a fairly generic topic, but hear me out - one of the members offered this as a response to the issue of freedom as applied to the recognition of societal mores.

it's like this - say for example you want to smoke grass (far-fetched, i know. i'm just citing an example). so, you procure a qp and toke up to your hearts content and wander down to the local dairy queen for a banana split and a double order of chili-cheese fries with a side of kielbasa. along the way you get into an argument with a traffic control sign that keeps on flashing 'don't walk' at you even though you saw it the first time it flashed. just as you are about to counterpoint it's insipid logic, the local constable wanders up to you noting your unsteady stance, dilated pupils, and debating technique of repeating the word 'dude' in various inflections. he then asks you flat out, "boy, have you been smoking marijuana?"
if you tell him no, or even offer an some partial truth about over-medicating yourself and are having a dietetic emergency and in dire need of refined sugar and trans fatty acids, then you have in fact made yourself subject to the law by acknowledging it's authority over you in attempting to thwart it.
if, however, you state flat out to the cop, "pig, i is toe' up", you have then shown that while you might be incarcerated for your actions, you are not going to be coerced into following rules because another commands it.
