I've never tried it in DOSBox. Is it more stable or something?

I keep DOSBox on my HDD mostly for an abrupt game of Master of Magic every few months.

I haven't tried it yet. But I'm told that Exult (at least the version I had) only approximated certain aspects of the game, such as fighting. But as I recall, Exult had features you couldn't get through DOSBox, like the paper doll inventory from Ultima 7 1/2 in Ultima 7.

Maybe I'll just end up downloading Exult again. I tried playing some of the latter DOS games in DOSBox and they were unreasonably slow and unresponsive.

Also: Have you tried playing a gnoll game, with all Black books, on the smallest world available, at the highest difficulty? :-P

At least I think they were gnolls. As I recall, one of the races sucked a lot. But maybe not as much as those insect guys.

I have not!

I generally go for Death Trolls. It's a horribly cheat-y setup, if you have the patience. Not too good for rushing, but:

1) Go with just straight Death magic, You have to have Black Channels for this. Also, it's a really good idea to select Alchemy. It's way easier to get gold than to get mana, and Trolls can't built Alchemist Guilds, so it'll give you magic weapons for them ( ... )
