Hell on Wheels, I want so badly to love you and look at you as an able replacement for my Deadwood fix, but you're not making it easy for me. How on earth can you show me a journalist, reporting on western expansion no less and the clashes with the native population that that would entail, who doesn't know what the word 'sullied' means? Seriously?
I'm willing to forgive the verbose and completely unnecessary thematic monologue at the end of the pilot. Even the paucity of time we get to look at Dominique McElligott. I'll even forgive your attempts to cram Swearengen's imperial menace and George Hearst's capitalistic spiritual engine into one ill-fitting doublet.
