So, I gave in and called Mom last night

She did. Sort of.

Mom last talked to Sis on Monday night. Sis was, at the time, in a hotel in Mississippi, waiting for the kids to go to sleep so she could toss them in the car and start the drive home. (At night, by herself. **shakes head**)

I guess Sis decided she wasn't letting H's mom take the boys down to see their father before he left for Iraq, for all the good and sensible reasons, so she drove them down herself last Wednesday. She tried to leave earlier in the day, but H wouldn't let them, and kept them all at the hotel until just before he had to go back to base. Prick.

Mom tried to talk Sis into making a rest stop in Little Rock with some cousins, who are the sort of family who'd open their doors for "the family" any time of day or night. Dunno if she did, Mom hasn't heard from her since that one call. So Mom and I are a little twitchy, not knowing for sure that Sis and the kids made it home ok, but at least we've got some idea what's going on.

Sis did tell Mom she's getting divorced, and Mom told Grandma (to save Sis the trouble). Grandma said, "It's probably for the best. The past couple of Christmases, he hasn't been very nice to us." Which is a pretty strong statement for Grandma, who you almost never catch saying bad things about family.

I'm pretty sure she didn't tell Mom about her boyfriend.

According to Mom, the divorce is in the final, send-the-papers-to-get-them-signed stage. Let's hope that goes well.

Other than that, it was a lovely Tuesday evening. Because it's spring break, I got to spend a Tuesday night on my couch, in my nightgown, enjoying the take-out Chinese that By and Cammie brought, and enjoying the company of two people I wanted to see (rather than the 18 that I have to see most Tuesdays).

Work's been productive this week, since we're not letting anyone in. MS (the workstudy guy who started back in January) has been working his tail off putting in brick edging in one of our beds, and Bri and I made cuttings yesterday. I'll be transplanting today.

Donna's back today; she's been home sick since last Friday. She still sounds terrible, but she's much more energetic than she was last week. We're all hoping she's not contagious.

Got a few squares last night, and pulled a bunch of floral squares out of the willow basket and pinned them together into a start of a blanket. I need about 30 more squares to get that blanket the size I want (just 48x48").

family stuff, estrogen afghan, work
