more lolita rants and realizations (picture heavy)

The more and more I get into Lolita and communicate it with friends and family the more I realize what I want out of it and who I am. It is hard coming from my financial background and being into such an addictive, unique, expensive style. When I originally got into the style or at least started learning about it I was only exposed to the style from the fruits books, which has a combination of ALL Japanese street fashion. You styles like this

and this

Next to style like this

.

As a young Goth I was amazed by the unique fashion and want to add elements of these styles to enhance my Gothic style. I then discovered the Gothic and Lolita Bible and saw many different photos like

After seeing these I knew this is how I wanted to dress. I didn't know much about these brands that I saw in the G&L bible (I can't read Japanese) and I assumed that they would NEVER fit me, that they didn't ship to the US and that they were sooooo expensive. So I used what I had available and I ordered from US sites and here were the results:

(2004)

Of course the people of the Lolita community posted these pictures on all of the Lolita fucks communities as well as the Goths, J-rockers and whoever else did as well. Over the years I started doing more research and met some Lolitas from Chicago that introduced to me to the EGL community on live journal and I learned that it was possible to order from Lolita companies if I could only fit into them. But I also found out about two companies one that made their own designs and the other one that made replicas (Rakuen Fashion and Fan Plus Friend) , that could make cute Lolita clothes that could fit me. At the time I was 195 pounds a size 18/20. As I started to lose weight with my boyfriend I had a goal to fit into this Lolita dress from Baby, The Stars Shine Bright (which I usually write out BTSSB and I when I talk about it I just call it Baby)

of course by the time I lost the weight the dress was sold out. Now I have lost 60 pounds and went down to a size 8, I still need to lose 30 more pounds and go down a couple more size but I have a hand full of brand items which is crazy to think about. I didn’t realize how many brand items I have until I started using Poupee girl (www.pupe.jp)

Here are every brand item I own

And now that I have Lolita brand items that is all I want. Some people would consider it an obsession. I guess I would consider it an obsession as well. I love looking at Daily Lolita and meet up photos, I am part of many Lolita communities. I have gone to a couple Lolita meet ups. I am starting not to like Goth fashion anymore and I am getting to the point where I only want to dress Lolita. I consider myself both Goth (because of the music I listen to and the culture I am part of ) but also Lolita (because of the style I dress). Even with my Goth style I have always loved Victorian fashion (which also got me into steampunk lol) and with Lolita it combines so many styles into one. Many people would probably disagree with me on that one. Lolita is definitely a passion of mine and I am starting to get known around my college as the Lolita not as the Goth or weird girl like I was in high school. I have a really long wish list of items I want here is a link to my wish list from wishlist.com . I have only ordered directly from two companies Meta and BTSSB because those were the only two brands that shipped to the US. I am starting to look into buying from other brands as well like Angelic Pretty (which just opened their English website and ships international), Innocent world (which I would have to use a shipping service or buy from the EGL sales community or maybe eBay if I am lucky), Moi-meme-Moitie (the same with innocent world and they started selling some items on some international mall sites), and other brands as well.
I was sitting down with my mom today looking at Lolita clothes lol which is really hard because she has a short attention span, hate sitting at the computer, and even though she really like Lolita she doesn't know much about it and doesn't really care for me to explain it. Well we started looking at Fairy Angel which is a 2nd hand shop that sells Lolita internationally and a lot of the items we both agreed on where from Innocent world. Well I never thought about ordering from innocent world before because they don't ship internationally. So we went to their website and we both fell in love with everything they have. I would have to say that Innocent world is my new favorite brand. Innocent world is elegant, unique, classic, and even though it’s all of those things it’s a practical style that could be worn every day compared to a lot of the styles I like from baby
(for example
)

But for the longest time and I still kind of do want Lolita clothes that would be appropriate to wear to a Goth club. or Lolita clothes that are both Lolita and Goth kind of clothes so no pastel colors like pink, blue, mint, white, off white, antique white.... or cute prints like flowers, animals, sweet foods,.... The problem is that the more I get into Lolita the more I fall in love with style like Sweet, Classic, Hime and even Sailor Lolita, which is NOT acceptable for Goth. Most American Goths don't even know that there is more than just Gothic Lolita and don't know the difference between Gothic Lolita and Gothic from the Gothic and Lolita bible. so when I try to talk about it with them about it they are like of course it’s acceptable for Goth. For someone like me that is easily affected by the people around me’s opinions I always feel trapped between my love of Gothic subculture and my love from Lolita. For some people it’s all about the style if you don't dress Goth then you are not Goth and for other people it’s all about the music. For me It’s a combination of things the music, the fashion, going to the shows, clubs and events, knowing about history about the music and the culture. But could I still be part of the Gothic culture if I wear an outfit like

Which happens to be my favorite style (I love bonnets!)

I don't see why not.
