Note: I failed utterly at using the actual prompt, but it was hard and I'm tried and I don't feel good. *pout* That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
1. Mai always sleeps with one or two knives under her pillow, and the smell of polished metal below cotton softness helps dreams come easily and soundly.
2. The scar is still sore and inflamed but he lets her touch it once, gently, cool cool fingers soothing the ache.
3. Salty sweat and salty tears and sweet skin and something else, too, musky foreign earth - it is not what she ever expected but that's not to say it doesn't all whet her appetite.
4. She's learned to watch Azula out of the corner of her eye, in quick sharp glances, and never, ever directly.
5. The squawking of Turtleducks always makes her feel young and exposed, and avoiding the courtyard altogether seems the best option.
