I was recently asked what fun and elegance meant to me.

For some reason Spalding Gray's quote from "Swimming to Cambodia" comes to mind, the quote went something like "...it was then I realized his perfect moments were when he almost died."

Fun for me is when I feel present, focused in the moment. It's the moment when I lean into a snowy slope, icy wind on my face, and my snowboard carves a perfect arc on a downhill run. It's the moment, sitting near the top of a tall redwood, feeling the blast of a sudden breeze, then feeling slow swaying response of the giant tree. It is the giddy smile of a lover's face. It is watching my nephew stretching for the finish line. It's sitting on a seashore and watching a quiet sunset.

Elegance is a personal expression of harmony. Great is the person who can always recognize it. For some it is silky table cloths and candles, for others it is an old blanket, a bottle of Chianti and a picnic in the garden.
