Yes, it's true. I am indeed once more a member of the employed of the world. Mind you, I was unemployed all of two weeks, with one of those being a vacation and the other being left for job-hunting. I started this morning at The Software Specialists, working as a tester. I have an office that I share with an intern, Sam, who I haven't met yet. I have my own desk with a computer and two (count em, left and right) monitors. I spent the morning working through a tutorial on the program I'll be working with, and I'm actually running a test as I type (it's been running since about noon now). Everyone's been really niec and I really like the atmosphere. I feel overdressed and I'm wearing my everyday clothes (Jeans, Polo shirt and boots). I've been told that the only condition to the dress code is a ban on exposed thongs...I think I can adhere to that one (the rule makes a great deal of sense in an office of men).
The only downside I've seen so far is monthly pay...which means I won't be receiving my first paycheck until the middle of February. I'm sure I won't mind it once I've been here a while, but right now that seems like a long ways away from today. Just gotta watch my credit card balance until then. On a positive note, my paychecks here will be significantly larger than the ones I was receiving at Wizard's Wall :)
On a random note only related to the topic by the fact that money's involved, I think I'm going to go see Paul at ThInker sometime this week to talk about getting another tattoo. I saw a piece of grafitti when I went to Tallahassee in October that struck me as being very cool, and I've been thinking about getting it done on my arm since I got back. With my funds in a more solid place, its probably a good time to get it done.
That's all for now. It's good to be back, and it's good to have everyone who had been on vacation back. Things are getting back to normal.
Have a Nice Day.
