To be yourself is all that you can do.

We had to write columns in newspaper, and I'm too lazy to update. So I've compromised in just putting my column as my update. I have no idea if I did it right or whatnot because I had no idea what I was supposed to do. Oh well, here it is nonethless:

Artistic Expressions
A young man patiently sits alone in his room. Thoughts of women, flowers, buildings, and everyday life filter through his brain. Like a writer with his pen, the painter elegantly slides the slick paintbrush across the waiting canvas, leaving behind snapshots of life in its wake. With approving eyes, the man places the newborn expression next to its brethren on a shelf. Each new day brings forth a new emotion for the man to capture in timeless square full of vibrant colours.
Art. What is art? What can or can not be labeled as art? Is art defined as a delicate complexion comprised of a smeared colour spectrum on box-shaped parchment? Or is a mottled lump of earth that was pounded into the shape of a bear by a 6 year old also considered art? Is art even necessarily a solid entity that can be touched and altered? Does it even warrant the idea that art itself deserves to be molded into a set category or description; can art be labeled?
Art is existence. Art is life. Everything experienced is an expression of art. There are some who walk the earth and are able to distill art into tangible renditions for the rest of the populous to appreciate. These people transform art from a concept into a physical object. But even still, art cannot be labeled.
Art is free flowing and ever lasting. Art is the burning passion of a woman for her love of singing. Art is the expression on the face of an infant at the sight of a bright red ball. Art is the feeling of happiness that a child receives from his friends while having fun and playing together. Art is the feeling of peace that is granted from the image of a lazy river meandering through a forest illuminated by the first rays of daylight. Art is the curb appeal of a new couple’s first house. Art is the scent of the master chef’s signature dinner at the fancy restaurant located downtown.
Art is amorphous and free-flowing. It is an expression, a thought, or idea. It can be tangible or intangible. Art is whatever a person defines it as for himself.
Art is personal. It is not dictated or defined by any one person. The above paragraphs and aforementioned ideas do not necessarily define art. The true criteria for what makes art cannot be found in any art scholar’s book. Art is whatever someone’s desires will it to be.
Art is free. Art is infinite. Art is life.
