Silence breaks the talking
We stare into this gap
ever growing, now and present
just as strangers soon depart
Your face is weary
marked with road mapped
wrinkles and fault lines
The hours tick endlessly away
robbing us of our lives
But still we sit in ourselves
Trying to forget the past
Barricading any signs of caring
We are each other's worst enemy
The taunting silence provokes us
into needless chatter
Neither of us interested
in this futile exchange of breaths
A single phrase is what's desired
But some desires can never be filled
The wars within ourselves
will still be waging
Our hearts will still be beating
Our minds still interlocked and thinking
But just as strangers, we depart
