[Unpopular?] Fandom Opinions Blog
- Okay, first. This fandom is SO FULL of quality fic I just. So happy. I love this bar! I have been collecting links and honestly it's like a list of 20+ fics. :DDDDD Smiles for DAYS. Wheeeeee!!
But. I have some nitpicks.
- Bambi. Bambi. I mean, this gif is priceless, but honestly, I would live my life happy if I never read about it in fic again. It's one of those pet images of fandom that breaks the fourth wall for me, and although I love a good shot of meta, I don't want it in every fic I read about the guys. I want my fanfiction experience to be a complete immersion event. Bambi, or calling Andrew/Eduardo a baby deer, just removes me in a snap.
- And, really, does he really come across to you like a deer? I mean. Personally, I find quite a deal more dimension to Sir Garfield than just a fluffy forest animal. There's a lot of intellectual bite there, a lot of depth and truth. I really respect how thoughtful he is. I can't anthropomorphize a deer out of that, big dark eyes or no.
- Plus. Fanon!Andrew is so sneaky. I love that. LOVE it. Bambi? Not sneaky. Long live the sneak!
- The chicken. No more about the chicken. That's another world-breaker for me; one of those "use sparingly" deals. Deposition!Mark didn't even want it brought up. Obviously, it was iced at some point. Now, the chicken in RPS fic. Hahaha, the Russian! I feel like it wouldn't be that huge of something to talk about more. But in the universe, no.
- I honestly don't feel like Jesse's that massively insecure. I mean, I do, I do! But not to the point where he'd fret so much as to become completely immobile. Is this coming across? IDK, it's my canon that Jesse matches Andrew stroke for stroke. They are evenly matched, at least in that they won't stumble over each other too much. Maybe I like the idea of a strong Eisenberg too much.
- Oh my god, how much do I want a fic where the authors can handle Andrew and Jesse being so loving but also incredibly platonic? I mean, massively. I love love love reading about their big, gay, Jewnicorn love, but. I also want gen!fic, with added girlfriends bonus. I do! Just one fic, that's all. Scratch the itch.
- I want more filming fic. SO MUCH.
- ARMIE HAMMER HOW DO YOU EVEN EXIST.
- I'd say that 80% of RPS fic in this fandom (if not a greater percent!) is written from Jesse's POV. It's so easy for us to access that self-conscious, neurotic, obsessive side, haha. I was bitten by a fic bug this morning that I'd love to try writing from Andrew's POV. I'm intimidated, but I think more people should try that. I'd love to read more from his perspective.
I probably have more thoughts about this.
