Filling out the Yuletide application. I never thought I'd actually see the day Roswell became an endangered fandom, but I'm not surprised. Just -- resigned? Oh, my poor dead alien show.
Speaking of alien shows, oh man. Stargate: Atlantis has eaten my soul. I always loved SG-1 and entrust a significant portion of my adolescence to it, but, RODNEY. I just. I have a difficult time expressing just how much love I have for the character. And I'm beginning to love everyone else, too -- Ford especially. That kid is like my hero. I am just itching to sit down and spend hours on this show; writing up reactions and snuggling into it best I can as a newbie. The fic is spectacular (praise del.icio.us!), and the fandom seems to be all about happy-go-lucky crackfests and serious analysis of geekhood (although thank heavens I am all for the McShep, because I can see I'd have a big problem trying to find anything else).
And there are three seasons for me to enjoy, and a fourth one that's happening as we speak. The first season is great so far. I've seen up through Hot Zone. My only complaint about that episode is
how many people keep dying and how it's almost like no one notices. Surely that's going to start weighing in on people other than Rodney (and really, the credit goes to Hewlett and his acting chops for having the decency to be shaken by the deaths of his peers -- HELLO, SGA CONTINGENCY, AND WELCOME TO MORTAL PERIL, OMFG).
And a;lfkjasd;lfk Rodney's speech. Find his sister. And his notes and everything. How he's working on huge projects in the background to try and help them and alksjfd. (There's this one fic I read, though, where Elizabeth needed to be put in a stasis pod and right before she gets thrown in she tells McKay all her passwords so the city can keep running. Rodney's failure to do just that in the show was disconcerting. Damn you, fandom! Three steps ahead in the logic game.)
Anyway, what I really want to get to is the part where the show finally and unequivocally justifies the McShep contigent's obsession with John's supreme intellect. I mean, okay, we had John making a brilliant four out of two really random twos in the mist on Home, but srsly. I am ready to see John talk about really obscure mathematics and winning at prime-not-prime and holding his own in theoretical physics against Rodney. Where're the learnings, SGA? What's all this business with John being a sooper sekrrit genius? FANDOM, YOU CONFUSE ME.
Also, also, also, also, that part in The Storm arc, where Sheppard is walking through the hallways and the lights are coming on for him as he advances and flickering off as he passes? SEX. PURE UNADULTERATED SEX. OMFG. Oh God, I want an icon of that so bad. SO BAD. It's the hottest city!porn thing to happen yet. (And, hello, new kink? Atlantis/Sheppard is the true OTP of this show. And, alksjfs, it is so hot.)
But, long story short, SGA is amazing. AMAZING.
...I can't believe I have to narrow down my Yuletide requests to just four.
