The True Love found this:
http://sternlab.org/2010/02/emission-spectra-scarves/ - the site of a woman who knits long scarves using the emission spectra of various elements as the pattern. So if you like silicon (and what geek doesn't?) you can go from this emission spectrum:
to this scarf:
Am I geek? DO I WANT ONE? God yes. In fact, we're each getting one, which I know is hopelessly twee and soppy but that's what happens when the True Love is a geek too (in fact, I'd say it was one of the minimum necessary conditions... hmmm - any maths geeks out there? Can you have more than one minimum necessary condition? perhaps not....).
The only concession we're making towards not-being-completely-soppy is to make sure that we chose different elements. :D
In other news I have to practise sticking feathers on to arrows some more (some fell off last Sunday) so I have bought my very own fletching jig.
On Tuesday I almost made it to a go go dancing class with some of the gorgeous Writing Girls. I had actually frightened myself by googling go go dancing and seeing some youtube clips that made me think "I'm too OLD and waaay too CONSERVATIVE for this", but the gorgeous girls pointed me towards the right clips during dinner so now I can't wait for the next session when we will get ourselves to the class on time.
On Wednesday night one of the lovely, LOVELY Tech Girls made dinner for the Young Gamers and for me while the True Love was in Sydney for a few days to buy me
chocolates work, and I got to cuddle the tiniest Tech Girl (there are so many beautiful tech babies around or on the way at the moment!). There was even more joy today when two of the Tech Girls fed me heavenly cake and green tea when I made a flying visit between appointments.
Happy.
