So apparently Kryptonite (the bicycle lock company) is in the shit-hole big time. Well, actually, any company that makes a lock that takes a cylindrical key is, but Kryptonite in particular because they're the biggest. Any round keyed lock can be opened with the body of a pen. With most Krypto's, it's your everyday standard BIC. Other size keys will take other size pens, but they're all vulnerable. What this means is that Kryptonite, who has sold goodness knows how many locks, is either going to have to recall ALL their locks with round keys, give refunds for them, or pay the consequences (Kryptonite offers a very nice warranty with their locks. Something to the tune of over a grand if your bike is stolen while you're using their lock. Seems to me that the cost of recalling/refunding is going to be a whole lot lower than claims from anyone who has one of their locks. Kryptonite's warranty says that you just have to send them what's left of the lock. If a BIC pen can do it, people will just mail a lock and a pen and get their money, or so I would imagine. The flames of panic are EVERYWHERE in the bike community. I lock my bike up for usually not more than the time it takes me to go in a store and buy something or eat, but it only takes about 5 seconds to do apparently. I can't afford to get a new lock yet. What a joke.

In other news, life is pretty damn good. I just paid rent at my old place for the last time, and I'm going to start getting my stuff together to move this week. Monday at Rapid Transit I didn't build a single bike, because almost everyone was gone, so I was a mechanic for the day instead. That was kinda cool, kinda stressful. Working Bikes is going well. I got a new helmet and light for my bike yesterday, 'cuz I still hadn't replaced my helmet from when I crashed. I had ordered one, but my boss didn't order it for me, he told me to call the vendor and "E.P." it. Which means to order it as an employee of the shop, rather than have the shop order it for me. This would save me money, but at the time I was very nervous about doing it, so I didn't. I decided to just go ahead and get a regular helmet at the shop instead. I like it. It's a whole lot better ventilated than my old one, so I'm not so hot-headed on the road:).

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, it's time for me to run off to work! lata ya'lls.
