So I took the train home this evening 'cuz it was crappy out and I was feeling lazy. For those of you who don't know, I live off the southern-most end of the Blue Line. I happened to have brought the book I'm reading with me, so I took my usual course of action which is to bury my nose in it. There were about 6 people in the car I was in. ( Read more... )

As many posters and announcments in the DC metro system say, "Remember, safety is everone's responsibility." Actually, I think petty mugging is fairly uncommon on our metro system, as the line between mugger and terrorist is pretty blurry and there are plenty of trigger happy security types about. But all the same stuff can happen anywhere.

I'm glad you didn't play hero with the knife Sam. That is, it wouldn't do to turn a potentially violent situation into a violent situation--not over $2, or $200, or whatever.

Life is short, and you never know what will happen.

Seriously. I came back from FL with the intention of living downtown, but 2 days of it was all it took for me to say, you know.. I'm gettting too old for this shit. It just isnt fun anymore to me. Not that Chicago is horrible or anything like that. But the apartment I was supposed to live in turned out to be farther away from transportation than I thought, and no grrl should walk alone in the city late at night. Common sense. The city has it moments at night. I really hope alot of people read this.
