Brick

We saw the movie Brick yesterday. It was very good - artfully done and interesting throughout. It was also very weird for me to watch, as it takes place in a nameless high school in SoCal (Orange County, unless I am grossly mistaken), and as all the schools in SoCal (Orange County) look exactly the same, and as the sky looks exactly the same - and the houses, and the roads, and the gutters, and the landscaping - it felt like it was taking place in the schools I had grown up in, but twisted into some dark parody of their reality. The recluse who eats lunch and reads behind the furthest portable (me), the SOCSA kids, the anaemic punk druggies, all your average high school stereotypes, I suppose, but I grew up with them looking exactly like that in exactly that environment. Trippy.
