Here's the deal; some pictures of the XII set have been posted online.
These pictures show Spock fighting Benedict Cumberbatch's character and Uhura facing him down with a phaser (badass). From the looks of it, Cumberbatch is the head of something, an organization? A group of space terrorists?
I've many questions, the biggest one being 'is that a fellow Vulcan on the right I spy??'
Because, if so, WHY is he on the Enterprise and not New Vulcan making babies?
He's a blue shirt, so he works under Spock, right?
AND SPOCK HAS NO QUALMS ABOUT HIM FOBBING OFF REPOPULATING THEIR ENDANGERED SPECIES?
I gotta say, the first picture I saw, was Cumberbatch in what looked like the starfleet regulation black shirt, with black hair and pale eyes, looking like he's throwing off the Vulcan nerve pinch and for one very excited moment I thought 'GARY MITCHELL y/y? :D'
Probs not so, but that would be amazing, I'd love to find out what happens to Mitchell in Abrams verse. And no I'm not taking the comics into consideration.
