1. i really like these horoscope drawings by bianca vidal. except they just confirm the fact that virgo is the shittiest illustrated sign. all the other signs have animals or things associated with them. what do we have? virgins. oh, great. thanks.
2. on our holidays in august, mr tree and i have to go see the deep oceans exhibit at the australian museum. because, cephalopods.
3. speaking of cephalopods, invisible octopus is invisible. Small pigment-filled cells, called chromatophores, and reflective ones called iridophores and leucophores, in the skin of most octopuses allow them to create nuanced patterns of color, luminosity and even harness polarized light to fool other ocean life.

4. chiara bautista (aka milk or logyu) is an artist who draws tentacled ladies (among other things). she talks about her art a bit in this interview on urban muse. just ignore the pretentious posturing by the "journalist" at the beginning. i think my favourite is the cyborg-tentacle lady on the bird-plane. i would love to buy prints but her site is still under construction.
5. Fertility, Gender, Sterilisation, Womanhood by s.e. smith at tiger beatdown does a really great job of articulating some of the reasons why i chose to get sterilised and why i wanted to have it done even when i wasn't in a sexual relationship and didn't forsee ever being in one. of course it also triggered the pregnancy nightmare last week. but still i'm glad i read it. and it'll be my two year anniversary in august. *\o/*
