sometimes i have panic attack symptoms in isolation when i'm doing nothing more than lying in bed, reading. sometimes all i can think of is flight when i know that there are situations in which i really should fight.

it's been more than two year since i became interested in typing fictional characters using the MBTI and enneagram. i also try to type those closest to me with varying levels of success. i'm almost positive that mrO is a 5w6 and INTP despite his belief that typing is rubbish.
apart from the feeling of satisfaction at having gotten it 'right', one of the most interesting things about typing in fandom is the discussions it provokes.
lissie_pissie and i had a great conversation one night in
house_cuddy where she presented enneagram types and i presented MBTI types and we came to an agreement of two:
House: 5(w4?), INTJ
Cuddy: 3(w2?), ESFJ
i came up with mulder and scully all on my own, despite the fact that mulder's wikipedia entry used to say he was an INTP (oh, please. he is the F-est F that ever F-ed, except for me.) and enneagram institute lists him as a 5 (
amyhit has postulated that CC meant for him to be a 5, but mulder had his own ideas).
Mulder: 4w5, INFP
Scully: 1w9, ISTJ
the most difficult to type were elizabeth and darcy, particularly because - as
elizabeth_hoot pointed out - we see their characters through austen's own typing. actually, come to think of it, darcy was fairly easy to type. it was lizzy who gave us trouble. in the end we decided upon:
Darcy: INTJ
Lizzy: ISFP
i have yet to determine their enneagram types, though i wouldn't be at all surprised if darcy were a 5.
what i find extremely interesting in all these pairings is the Male/N v Female/S aspect. also, in a general way, the fact that in an extravert-dominated world (i think it's something like 80%E v 20%I) all but one of these characters is an introvert.
on a personal level, it interests me that i found it easiest to type the male characters in both typing systems. hmmm.
(for the record and those new to me, i'm a 4w5, INFJ. why yes, i am practically mulder. gods help me.)

today M and i are going to see Manon at the opera house. it's my last ballet of the year, though i have five to look forward to next year. it's raining and there's trackwork on the city circle line. she's going to buy me dinner and cocktails and i will most likely buy myself an ice cream.
my heart is beating so fast it's like a bird in my chest. a falcon, desperate for lift.
