Adieu, and take thy praise with thee to heaven

Stritch's esteemed Peter Christensen passed away.  Appearently it was something with his heart.  Appearently it was sudden.  Peter was one of the few professors to really challenge me.  I remember feeling a mix of excitement and dread when i registered for Shakespeare's Histories class.  I remember hearing what a difficult professor he was.  And true the rumors turned out to be.  When he asked a question about the material, it took everyone about fifteen minutes to figure out the question, and then another 45 to construct an answer.

I remember I always felt guilty about not exactly being a model student in his class.  I was late a lot, missed class all together, and once fell asleep.  My papers weren't always of the best quality and often turned in late.  But Peter still had faith in me, just as he did in all of his students.  After all was said and done, I passed his class with a B+, which was honestly a higher grade than I thought I deserved.   But he told me he was very impressed with my final paper.  I saw him the day after my senior reading and he told me that my work was original and captivating.  Which, if you knew Peter, really means a lot.

Adieu, and take thy praise with thee to heaven.~Henry IV.  Farewell, Dr Christensen, you were by far too smart for this world.
