fic: Cat, Mouse, and the Art of Deception

Yeah, so no real historical basis for most of this fic, except a couple of mentions.
The cross is Mt. Athos, but I’m wondering if it’s not a huge symbol of his faith, like how Germany has the Teutonic cross as a necklace, and America as well. Sadik’s even been shown with prayer beads before, I think.
Istanbul was really fire-prone, helped in no short part by being overcrowded, and the Janissaries who would allow fires to run unchecked until they got their way. So there would be huge empty lots for a while, before they’d get filled in again. I can imagine Herakles taking advantage of this, and using the enriched ground as a garden.
Gardening is totally a Greek national pastime. So, basically, agriculture.
And the Turks appear to love to cook, almost as passionately as the Greeks liked to incite fighting and riots back then. So I think this suits them rather well.
