TWO DAYS OF SENSORY DEPRIVATION

Dec 14, 2005 17:15

Want any proof that you are firmly entrenched in the electronic media? Do without tv and internet for two days! I actually went to sleep early for a change!

Monday evening: get home, tv and internet are dead. Line person comes out to local switching station, tells me I need to place a service call. Set it for 5-8 Tuesday.

Tuesday: Get home early from work. No Comcast people. Call company: determine that line is out in my area [no kidding!]. They cancelled my appointment and didn't call to tell me, as they have to dsend a line person out. Need to reschedule for Wednesday. Grr.

Wednesday: left work early for 2nd day. Guy comes out and looks at alley box and........I have been disconnected by a line auditor, with the wrong address tag on my box, even though I have never been remotely close to being shut off for non-payment. Box stiull dead, though. 2nd guy comes out and determines that the 1st guy hooked me back up to the wrong cables.

In the pantheon of things in life that can go wrong, this doesn't even register on the scale. But it was irritating, seeing as that I am wanting to research cars! It DID bring home how much time I spend online, though.....and how much I just have the TV on for company's sake, with one eye trained on it. [Glowing light in corner = mother's heartbeat in womb? lol........] And how much I look forward to seeing what my friends on here are up to; that was the part I missed most.

Boss took us to Red Hot & Blue for Xmas today. When they say hot bbq sauce.....they MEAN hot.

Car still running ok. [Crosses fingers.] Passed on the one I looked at on Saturday....they wanted more than it was worth. Worst thing I can do is rush on that decision.

Brrrrr.
