My whole review of the episode is now
here, and my Much-centric points below...
9) Naturally, this brings me to a complaint: poor poor Much! Seeing him all heartbroken at Kate's feelings for Robin, even to the point where he was prepared to walk away from his friends and comrades. That scene, where he quietly left the others behind, was wonderfully understated and all the more poignant for it. Oh Much, you do break my heart.
10) And a message to Kate: You're an idiot. What exactly is it that you see in Robin?? Much is the perfect man, and you just ignore him!
11) While I'm thinking about Treating Much Right, I must also complain about Allan's little quip 'trying to catch breakfast' when they couldn't find Much. I really thought Much and Allan were getting closer, but the last couple of episodes suggest the opposite. Is Allan just becoming his old self, perhaps a decent man underneath but with a tendency to feel sorry for himself to the extent that he does things like betray people? Maybe we'll see him get back together with Guy...
12) Despite all the horrible things that happened to Much this episode, I was pleased to see that at the beginning Robin was actually thinking of him, and didn't want to hurt his feelings by hooking up with Kate. Of course, by the end of the episode (and remember, Much never did intercede on Kate's behalf as she asked him to), he wasn't thinking of him at all - but there was a moment there when he hadn't entirely forgotten about him, which is progress!
13) When Much had run away, and came across Isabella's underhand plan and so had to go back and save his friends, despite being upset... did it remind anyone else of the end of season 1 when Robin said terrible things to him, and he went off, but came back when he found out 'King Richard' was an impostor?
14) And just a quick word about John: I'm not sure how he knew about Robin's feelings for Kate, but it was pleasantly typical of him to spot what's going on in people's minds and try to encourage them. It's just the rest of the situation that's wrong :/
