Rewatch time again - see
here.
I found my old review, and it's
here. For once, I stand by every word I said in it!
Brothers in Arms is one of those episodes I always look forward to - especially because it's so obviously an Allan episode. So, here are some comments...
1) Allan's eyes. This was when I first noticed them (though why I didn't mention this in my original review, I don't know!). Stunning.
2) Poor Much - that scene at the beginning where Robin pretends to be seriously injured, and Much looks so devastated, then finds out it was an unthinking joke. Robin should really pay him more attention.
3) Eleri is so annoying. But Lucky George is fun.
4) We get to see Marian's dark side in this one. She knows she's Guy's traitor, but when she hears his sergeant being tortured to death, does she step in and own up? No. I suppose it's because of her father. Again.
5) Allan looks good wearing necklaces. I love how we get that little bit of interaction between him and Djaq in this - real fun, unrelated to their outlaw life, just a lovley little exchange between friends. No wonder she fancies him...
6) Guy really is dim. Does he really think there are two identical necklaces floating around? Blinded by love, I suppose...
7) Yay for complex plots - it makes it rather satisfying viewing.
8) I adore Tom. His fate is very sad... and yet I do rather approve of putting my favourite characters (i.e. Allan) through the emotional mill. It's not a schadenfreude thing, honest.
9) The Sheriff actually spanks Guy with an arrow. How awesome is that? I do love that pair. And the way the Sheriff gets Guy going when he's on his way to confront Marian about being the traitor - he really is quite a sadist, isn't he?
10) I'm sure we get a good reference to where Knighton is in this one. Where does Guy say the 'gold' convoy is supposed to be heading? When Robin and Much intercept it (coming from Knighton), which side of the road do they approach it from and in which direction (relative to their arrival) is it going? Answer these questions, and you will be able to work out where Knighton is relative to the GNR, I think... and yet every time I watch I fail to pay attention! *facepalm*
