Eyes sparkling with lust, Vaizey fingered the rough parchment with relish, savouring James’ words. He must not forget to thank him for stirring dear Richard’s loyal private guard. How perfect. Building on a soldier’s hot temper, spreading rumour, exaggerating Locksley’s role to implicate him in this ‘murder’.
Vaizey knew there was a reason why he liked James. They were alike in many ways. He frowned, his eyes narrowed. He had better remember that when the time came.
But first...a toast to the weak-minded. They heard what they wanted to believe.
Sweet revenge. Carter would be perfect for this job.
