Wondering...

I know that everyone at one point in time have thought about a relationship that they are in about how it could go wrong and things that could happen to ruin it, and this one is no different... maybe even more so.... because of college coming up because of Rachel have to chose a college... I don't want her to base a college decision on me, but I ( Read more... )

You know, I left Lexington (even though I'm back now, ugh) and it wasn't nearly as much to get away as it was to experience something different. I know that for me, I had lived here all my life and Lexington was pretty much all I knew. I just wanted to go off and be independent and have new friends (not because I was tired of my old ones, but who can't use more friends?) and just put myself in a medium totally foreign to me. Had I stayed in Lexington, I probably would have more or less only stuck with my friends from high school and that worried me, because I knew that there is more out there and I wanted to immerse myself in it. I don't know, it just seems like you're seeing this more as an end than a beginning (even though you'll probably vigorously deny it). I think it's good that you're being selfless and not wanting her relationship with you to influence her college choice, but I do think you could try to understand where she's coming from a little more (not that you don't at all right now). Now on a lighter note...

OSU SUCKS! (it's a big UC rival)

though they do have the BEST parties and it's in Columbus, which is like 100 times better than Cincy, as it is a very gay-friendly (i.e. liberal) city.

OSU is Oklahoma State University, not Ohio State. But I agree with Chandler... I haven't lived in Lexington all my life, and so those that have lived there all theres don't realize that there is a big world out there and you have to get out there and experience it. Because then you learn if you want to stay in KY. Because KY is like a whole different world, and people need to see something other than just the KY way of life. And if Rachel does leave, there's always a weekend that you could go out and visit her, and Thanksgiving, and Christmas for a month, and three months over the summer... so it's not like you'll never see her. And Rachel likes football, and OSU is pretty good, while UK sucks. SO if she does leave, you aren't going to lose her... she'll still be there, just not within easy driving distance.
