7/26/2010 The temperature dropped to 55 degrees during the night. Good sleeping weather. We left camp around 10am heading west on hwy-28. We stopped in Ispeming at McDonalds to upload to our log and then at Da Yoopers to look around and make a sandwich for lunch. Back on hwy-28 west it was very scenic as we drove through Northern Michigan pine forests. Three deer crossed the road in front of us. We saw a lot of motorcycles but very few semi trucks on this stretch of road. At Wakefield Mi. we took US-2 west through Ironwood and into Wisconsin. After we passed through Ashland WI., we came to the Chequamegon Nat'l Forest and the Wanoka Nat'l Forest Campground. We stopped and found a rustic site in the woods on a bluff overlooking a small lake. A sign said this was the former site of a C.C.C camp of Twin Lakes Company V-1676 form 1933 to 1942. The weather man promised us rain, wind, hail, and maybe a tornado overnight but it was calm and didn't rain. It was warm and humid though.
