7/23/2010 After having lunch with Ma Dunham, we left home at 4:30pm and headed north. We arrived at Bonnie's parents house in Harrison Michigan at 6:15pm. We spent a couple of days there before heading west on our trip to California. We visited for a while and later we played euchre before going to bed.
7/24/2010 Doris and Carl had breakfast ready when we got up. Bonnie and Doris drove to Fenton Michigan to attend the Green-Reed reunion and I stayed in Harrison to visit with Carl and Roy. Carl and I replaced a faucet in the bathroom sink. Roy and I drove up to Houghton Lake and ate lunch at a Chinese restaurant. Bonnie and Doris stopped at the German garden and picked some green beans on the way back from the reunion. They got home around 5pm. Beverly, InSung, KeyIn, and Madison came over to visit later in the evening.
7/25/2010 Doris and Carl served us breakfast again before we left to continue on our trip. We left at 9:15am and headed north on US-127. We crossed the Mackinac Bridge around 11:45. We stopped along US-2 and sat along the shore of Lake Michigan to eat our lunch. Bonnie's brownie desert was cut short when a sea gull swooped down and stole it out of her hand. After relaxing for a while, we continued west on US-2. We took highway 117 north to highway 28. We drove west on highway 28 through Munising and Christmas and stopped at the Furnace Bay National Forest Campground. There is an old stone furnace here that was used to make iron from iron ore in the 1800s and early 1900s. We made pizza for supper, walked around the park, and relaxed the rest of the evening.
