I finally got DSL at home. Now I can download porn somewhat faster! Yay!
Since I've been using Earthlink dial-up for seven years and was loathe to give up my email address, and since they were cutting me a deal to upgrade, I went with them. In seven years I have had no customer service complaints about them but they were starting to piss me off with this DSL order. They kept pushing back my activation date and not telling me. But it finally got to working last night and I've been pretty impressed so far.
Speaking of their customer service, honest to God, I have no problem with calling tech support and getting to talk to someone in India or Indonesia. I don't have a problem with accents. I can handle it. What did tick me off is that Earthlink apparently makes their foreign tech support people use American names! I refuse to believe that I was talking to people whose given names were John and Alice. It's a racist practice and it insulted my intelligence.
To be truthful, I did hang up on one tech support person because he made me spell my name four times and still got it wrong. In my defense, I would have hung on anyone that stupid, no matter where they were in the world.
