I amaze myself sometimes

Aug 17, 2005 20:49

I was reading entries that I wrote on this day over the last couple years and some of the things I write are so funny, like this little quote from my entry written one year ago:

"After listening to Daniel Bedingfield's CD 3 times today, I decided I am going to have his baby."

And two years ago, I was writing about the Phoenix gas shortage and I was complaining that I had to pay $1.84 a gallon. My, what a different world we live in.

I talked to Wolf today. I told him about my interview with the county. He told me he knew I had interviewed because Ryan (the cutie that we both know that works at the county treasurer's office) told him about it. He had also mentioned that while everyone agreed that I was very qualified for the job, apparently someone else interviewed with 15 years of titling experience. I think I can kiss that job opportunity goodbye. But like I said, I wasn't investing much towards that anyway. Now I can focus on my bid for the AM job at Yellow Book. As I think about it more, I'm really thinking this is an opportunity that I should take. Wolf also told me that he interviewed at YB today, probably for a T-Sales position but I can't remember.

I got a crapload of claims today, but they're all researched. Woohoo! I finally got that 22 day claim closed so my interval will go down dramatically. I am coming in at 8 am tomorrow because the office is closing at 10:30 so we all can go to the Kernels game for a company wide outing. I'll finally get to see Joe Walsh in person. I wonder if he's as cute as he looks in pictures.

I also get to go to the C'YA thing in Coralville tomorrow evening. I'm looking forward to that. Any other Cornellians that read this going?

I have a crapload of reading to do and my three discussion questions for my class. I'm going to try to get all that shit done tonight.

I get off in 3 minutes. Then I'm leaving work. HA!

Until next time, ever onward!

540 AM CDT WED AUG 17 2005

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL
IOWA...SOUTHEAST IOWA...NORTHWEST ILLINOIS...NORTHEAST MISSOURI...
NORTHEAST IOWA...WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND NORTH CENTRAL
ILLINOIS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

AREAS OF SHOWERS AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP AFTER MIDNIGHT
AHEAD OF A WARM FRONT. LIMITED INSTABILITY AND FORCING SHOULD KEEP
ANY STORMS BELOW SEVERE LEVELS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

THURSDAY...A FRONTAL SYSTEM WILL TRY TO MOVE NORTH ACROSS THE AREA
WITH INCREASING INSTABILITY AND SOME WIND SHEAR AROUND THIS
FEATURE...THERE MAY BE A CHANCE FOR SOME SEVERE STORMS TO DEVELOP BY
THURSDAY AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING HOURS. CURRENT INDICATIONS
SUGGEST A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY BE ABLE TO PRODUCE DAMAGING WIND
GUSTS UP TO 65 MPH...AND HAIL UP TO THE SIZE OF GOLFBALLS.

FRIDAY...AN EVEN STRONGER STORM SYSTEM WILL MAKE FOR THE POTENTIAL
OF A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SEVERE WEATHER SITUATION. HEAT AND
HUMIDITY WILL BUILD OVER THE AREA DURING THE DAY ON FRIDAY AHEAD
OF THE SURFACE LOW RESULTING IN VERY UNSTABLE AIR. LATEST
INDICATIONS SUGGEST A FAVORABLE ENVIRONMENT FOR LARGE SCALE
DAMAGING WINDS OF 60 TO 80 MPH OR MORE...AND HAIL UP TO THE SIZE OF
QUARTERS. IF THE MAIN LOW PRESSURE CENTER AND ASSOCIATED WARM FRONT
MOVE OVER PORTIONS OF EASTERN IOWA AND NORTHWEST ILLINOIS AND
SPAWN STORMS ALONG THE WARM FRONT...THERE WILL ALSO BE A THREAT FOR
TORNADIC STORMS ALONG AND JUST NORTH OF THIS BOUNDARY. AT THIS
TIME...IT APPEARS THAT THE GREATEST RISK AND COVERAGE OF SEVERE
WEATHER WILL BE ON LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND ESPECIALLY DURING FRIDAY
EVENING. CURRENT INDICATIONS SUPPORT LOCATIONS ALONG AND
ESPECIALLY NORTH OF I-80 ARE AT HIGHEST RISK. HOWEVER...THERE IS
STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY ON THE EXACT PATH OF THE MAIN SYSTEM AND THUS
THE AREA MORE FAVORABLE FOR STORM COVERAGE.

THE LARGE AMOUNT OF MOISTURE IN THE AIR WILL ALSO RESULT IN VERY
HEAVY RAINFALL RATES AND LOCALLY VERY HEAVY RAIN TOTALS OF WELL OVER
2 INCHES IN A FEW HOURS THAT MAY PRODUCE FLASH FLOODING.

STAY TUNED FOR FOR FURTHER UPDATES AND FORECASTS CONCERNING THESE
POTENTIALLY SIGNIFICANT SEVERE WEATHER EVENTS.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT EXPECTED TODAY AND TONIGHT...BUT MAY BE
NEEDED BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING AND ESPECIALLY LATE FRIDAY.

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL
IOWA...SOUTHEAST IOWA...NORTHWEST ILLINOIS...NORTHEAST MISSOURI...
NORTHEAST IOWA...WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND NORTH CENTRAL
ILLINOIS.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE LATE THIS
EVENING OVER FAR NORTHEAST MISSOURI AND EASTERN IOWA WEST OF HIGHWAY
218. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE
WIDESPREAD ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA AFTER MIDNIGHT AS A WARM FRONT
PASSES THROUGH. THE MAIN THREATS WILL BE BRIEF HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND
CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING. CONDITIONS WILL NOT BE FAVORABLE FOR
STORMS TO REACH SEVERE LEVELS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY

SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE LIKELY ON BOTH THURSDAY AND
FRIDAY... WITH SOME POTENTIAL FOR SEVERE WEATHER ON BOTH DAYS.
AFTER MORNING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS PASS THROUGH THE AREA...
THUNDERSTORMS MAY DEVELOP IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING ON
THURSDAY. WHILE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE WAKE OF
MORNING SHOWERS IS UNCERTAIN... IF THUNDERSTORMS CAN DEVELOP...
SOME MAY REACH SEVERE LIMITS... WITH GUSTY WINDS AND LARGE HAIL
THE PRIMARY THREATS. AREAS NORTH OF HIGHWAY 30 ARE AT GREATEST
RISK FOR AFTERNOON AND EVENING THUNDERSTORMS.

THE GREATER CHANCE FOR THUNDERSTORMS WILL OCCUR ON FRIDAY. HEAT
AND HUMIDITY WILL BUILD OVER THE AREA DURING THE DAY... RESULTING
IN UNSTABLE AIR... AND STRONG WINDS ALOFT WILL CREATE WIND SHEAR.
THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY ON WHETHER STORMS WILL DEVELOP IN
THE AREA ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING... BASED THE
POSITION OF THE CENTER OF LOW PRESSURE AND ASSOCIATED WARM FRONT.
IF STORMS DO DEVELOP IN THE AREA... THEY WILL BE ABLE TO REACH
SEVERE LIMITS... WITH A RISK OF LARGE HAIL... DAMAGING WINDS...
AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. SEVERE WEATHER IS MORE LIKELY LATER IN THE
EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS ON FRIDAY NIGHT AS THUNDERSTORMS
TO THE WEST DEVELOP IN TO A COMPLEX THAT MOVES ACROSS THE AREA.
THIS COMPLEX WILL BRING A THREAT OF DAMAGING WINDS... WITH A
LESSER RISK OF LARGE HAIL AND ISOLATED TORNADOES. LOCALLY HEAVY
RAINFALL WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT ANTICIPATED TODAY AND TONIGHT.
