Sorry about the short hiatus from my boring journal, but I was in transit between Cedar Rapids and Kansas City and Cedar Rapids over the last few days. And I came back with three kids.
No, the kids aren't mine. They're my cousins. John, Alex, and Steven. They're hanging out with me this week since I don't have class and they've been wanting to see where I live and stuff.
Friday night I drove down to KC. Since they raised the speed limit here in Iowa it's a faster drive. If you drive the speed limit like me, it now takes about 5 1/2 hours to get there. I ended up getting there at about 2:30 am. Chatted with John and Shelby for a while and then I crashed.
Saturday I woke up before noon and worked on my powerpoint presentation for class while John was running out to get a tire fixed on his mom's van. I had tried to save the powerpoint presentation on my disk that I brought but in doing that the computer crashed, effectively destroying everything on my disk (including my paper!). Luckily, my paper was saved on my hard drive at home. So I took a break for a couple hours to destress and then I tackled it again. This time I saved it to their hard drive and e-mailed it to myself (after posting it in the classroom). John and Katrina went car shopping and got home at about 7:30. The kids got their stuff together and we headed out at about 8:30 pm. We arrived at my door at 2 am.
Sunday morning went rather smoothly. We had to get up after 5 hours of sleep and I thought it would be a difficult experience but the kids all got up and got ready and we left in time to be at church at 9:30. I had to be there because I was altar minister. The kids really enjoyed the service and then we went to Peking Buffet in Coralville for Chinese lunch. Then we came home and took a nap. After that, I put the finishing touches on my paper, submitted it, then did some cleaning around the house. We watched a little TV and then Tonya and Ben came over and we all played Hand and Foot. The kids didn't really enjoy the game at first because we didn't have enough cards to go around. We started to play as teams and then the fun really started. Alex and Tonya owned one of the rounds but in the final round John and I totally blew everyone out of the water. It was awesome.
I had to go to work and unfortunately had to leave the kids at home. But they have movies and stuff to watch while I'm gone. They also went to Dairy Queen. Tonight we're going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I have to work tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday, but Thursday I'm taking off early to take the kids to a Kernels game and I'm taking off on Friday so I can take the kids home, but not before taking them to Yellow Book and Cornell. They gotta see that stuff.
So that's what's been going on. Not too exciting but not that boring either I guess.
That's about it for now. Until next time, ever onward!

WoD sentence for w/e 08-06-2005:
After arriving in Gotham City, I knew I had to find Bruce Wayne because he had Batman's stuff, but then the batmobile drove by, so I thought I'd follow him to the batcave, but he must have caught on to me because the next thing I knew a batarang was flying at my windshield, probably thrown by Batgirl because she missed, and then they sped away because the batsignal appeared and Robin jumped in the car.
