Weekly Windstone Overview

Feb 04, 2012 15:24

I don't really want to go into too much detail, but a bit of violence in the house happened after some recurring drama reached a boil. No serious injuries taken. Worst of it was a busted nose, and everything concluded before weapons were involved. I'm a tiny bit concerned about medium-term implications. Might try staying at an apartment next term. And I might get a bit of setback from my plans on picking up a Cintiq. But I really think for the most part, things will be fine.

I hope.

Anyway, balloons solve everything! For everything else, there's hot sauce. Just got a new bottle of Texas Pete today. Not nearly as much piquancy as Habanero sauces, but this has a nice flavor to it. Oh! And Global Games Jam was last week, so if you wanted to experiment around with dozens and dozens of small, rough-around-the-edges games for free, you can dig around through the games pile here. You can sort by platform and all, so you're not out of luck if you prefer Linux or something.

Catperson with a bubble drawn in maybe about 10 minutes total. Yeah. That's about it. I kinda like the weird looking outfit, though.

I like popping pics, but I never really draw much stomping or sharp things or whatnot. Primarily because I generally don't care for it conceptually. Like I can't really imagine myself in those situations very much having much fun. But. There's also not a whole lot of other people drawing it either. So I figure both for the sake of exploration and for the sake of playing to unaddressed niches, I should at least try drawing those scenarios more often.

Why didn't any of you tell me Flaaffy had a rubbery body I could have had a favorite non-Pikachu Pokemon all this time! :V

I used to like Di Gi Charat. And then I forgot it existed. And then I was reminded it existed and wanted to draw a human again. Sorta. And then when I tried to figure out why I was drawing humans and what I would draw them doing, I ran out of ideas again.

Pony blows the bubble. Also, I think I botched the tail. It just looks bizarre. Most of the rest of it, I think is cute enough.

Baby Got Flank. I also like to laugh.

I don't remember the how or why I did this one, but I think it's a fun picture. Wub is best sound-effect.

Pony Day: Apparently, The Great and Powerful Trixie has lost her flipping sanity and demoted to background actor. Oh, also pony sleepwear is canon. 1080p Youtube streaming link Please support the official release..

Cool Things: Music! Try soooome! Because if I didn't have these things to listen to, I'm not sure I would have made it through the week as cheery as I am.

Pony flavor - Loyalty, an MLP:FiM original by AcousticBrony and MandoPony. Reminds me a little bit of Crush40. I think there's some vague shipping vibe in there too, but I like to think I'm just over-analyzing the lyrics and that it's really about the complications of managing the weather as a Pegasus in Ponyville.

Meanwhile, Time Is Running Out is a kind of frantic, fast-paced electronic sort of tune based on Twilight's breakdown in Lesson Zero. Sounds quite a bit like something I would hear in NezumiMan or play in Beatmania and reminds me just a tad of Onoken's Felys.

People I've Never Heard Of flavor - Moves Like Jagger. Maroon 5 Rock Cover by Roomie featuring Magdalena Engström. (How the heck does a normal person type an umlaut, anyway? I looked it up the umlauted o in a chart.) Same song, different performer, with lyrics.

Videogame flavor - I'm not sure this song originated in the game, but it's the only place I really know the song from. Al Compas Del Mambo in Samba De Amigo. A nice energetic thing to dance to. This is what I get when I toss the song title into Youtube or Google search, so it's not exclusive to the game.
