i have few debts, but little money.
i work all the time.
i bought a football at wal-mart using a credit card.
how american of me.

thanksgiving dinner wasn't very good,
several of us got stomachaches,
and i think we all got headaches.
we couldn't be interesting to save our lives.

at least i am here now. please don't ask
where i plan to go from here.
every year another member of the family
either dies or doesn't show.

but there's a hug for everyone,
a kiss on the cheek,
talk of the next time,
and lots of staring at the floor.

'christmas on mars' made me smile,
even laugh aloud a few times.
i'm glad i got to watch it with my friends,
even though i fell asleep for about five minutes.
