disease vectors, light infestations, birds as sheetmusic

I can't tell, I think I maybe had a bout of allergies yesterday, but I was feeling achy on top of it. I took an Emergen-C and a Zyrtec and hoped for the best.

Then I came home to two awesome pieces of news. One is: Briana's got sniffles and a fever, and spent all evening wrapped up on the couch in our unventilated, unventilatable living room incubation chamber. Taking this into account I decided to call in sick for tomorrow so I wouldn't spread anything to Laika's editorial department.

Two is: hey Buckwheat (Buqueet?) caught himself a mouse. Great, except a) that means dead mice are around, and b) since when is there ever one mouse? Sure enough, last night I saw a second. Sancho (Buckwheat) was batting it around all over the floor when I came out at 3am for a hot bath, and I figured he'd finish him off and we could deal with the rest in the morning. What I didn't figure is, he apparently fit under the bathroom door, or he had a brother hanging out in the bathroom already. I'm not overly squeamish, but I'm a little squeamish. Apparently mice running around the floor is over my threshold, though, and the bath was ruined before the tub was even full.

I don't even know how you deal with a problem like that. I get to call the landlord today, though, and start a relationship with her (pretty much all issues in the past have funneled through Briana, but with her leaving us and Martha stepping in, I guess I get the honor of being 1844's Voicebox) over a mouse infestation. So, yay.

Home sick today. So I guess I'm going to try to watch some movies and write some pages. Make the day not a total waste. Which means not sitting at the internet like this all day. No matter how behind I am on my Google reader.

Speaking of Google reader (and otherwise totally unrelated), look at this:
