Have you ever considered leaving LJ for the real-blog world?

I know there are better sites out there, more blog-focused and less community-based, but I guess I never realized there was a thing called "the real-blog world"... what is it? Should I make some kind of leap?

Are you saying I should take my little regional theater show and go national?

Well.. yes!

I guess I read the above as sort of a feeling that you weren't accomplishing much, and I wondered if you'd feel differently if it were a "real" blog and not LJ. I mean, because then you're updating your blog, which is like a real task accomplishment kind of thing to do (for some people).

Oh, lordy. I always feel like I take my blog too seriously as it is... or maybe I just feel like a jackass taking the last two syllables in "livejournal" so literally when I know people read this -- I don't think they read often, but apparently they do read it. I don't know if my ego needs any inflation of me keeping a "real blog;" I can only justify all my blathering by reminding myself that it's not a real blog each time I hit "post ( ... )

I think you'd do well with wordpress. I've used both wordpress (for meganandtalina.com) and blogger (for arboreality) and I prefer wordpress's options. It's more of a complete site management tool than blogger, which is really a rich man's LJ.

I think it helps to have a theme, or a plan -- something to make it different than just a catchall journal. Not that I don't read your journal (obviously here I am), but my thought was that channeling some of this creativity into something that was more of a... formal project, I guess... might make you feel like you were accomplishing something. And, you know, you're a good writer. You have opinions on things other people are interested in. the story of someone working to become a filmmaker in Portland is not a NEW story, but it could be your story. Why not?

I'm kinda looking forward to living in the same city with you. :)
