so many didn'ts, so few dids

So among my watched communities on the friends page is rugu_ru, a Russian photography group I found through octi_stripe. Recently there was a huge debate (in Russian, which I spottily translated with Yahoo's Babelfish). As far as I can tell the debate was over whether naked underage people can possibly considered art, or if it's just child pornography blah blah blah. Ever since they decided it was fairgame as long as it was trying to be art, there seems to be more of it than ever. Like any other art involving naked people, there's a whole lot of bland and only some that's actually any good.

Anyway, there's a recent post full of NSFW photos (and one very familiar one). It's all pretty ridiculous and provocative, but weirdly appealing in a sort of old-timey-meets-LaChapelle way. Anyway among them all is this image:

And I just love it.

I can't stop looking at that photograph. I want to know what the story is, and if I can't find out then I want to write it for them. I look at that picture and I want to write an entire adventure story about those strange characters. They remind me of a million different things: various comic books, Carnivale, 80s-era Bruce Willis. Just fantastic.

I went to bed early. It didn't take. Except for doing laundry and thoroughly cleaning my room -- and dealing with cat piss -- the weekend's been a complete wash. Watched a lot of movies (Be Kind Rewind, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Brick, The Astronaut Farmer, several bad episodes of Buck Rogers and several decent episodes of Star Trek... and I'm not sure I didn't forget a couple). Didn't write a word. Didn't edit. Didn't etc.

Didn't even make it out to return overdue videos, thanks to a brief snowstorm.

Well. So it goes.
