Sat at the Pioneer Place Starbucks and in about ninety minutes jotted out a thirty-five plot-point feature-length structure for The World of Missing Persons. Apart from the fact that a handful of bullet items say Subplot (??), it feels all right. It's something.
Then I went to Synecdoche, New York, again (rather than Rachel Getting Married, which had an earlier showtime and wouldn't have afforded me as much moleskine-time). Contrary to many reviews I've read, I don't consider Synecdoche a movie you need to see twice to "get," but there's plenty to pick up on to make a second viewing worth it. The end -- those last seconds with Hoffman's head on the woman's shoulder and Dianne Wiest's voice in his ear -- kills me.
Then came home, started writing a bit of the feature version, but I knew I wouldn't be able to commit to it tonight. So I took a bath, read some Neuromancer (I'm now reading Gibson's first and Gibson's newest concurrently), finished Spartacus, which wasn't very mindblowing but wasn't half bad, and now it's off to bed.
Tomorrow I have to get my parents their xmas lights back. Tuesday I have a meeting with Kelly, re: her project. Thursday night at Writing Group we're going to do a short feature script Brie has finished, which is exciting. Wednesday night's free so far, and I hope I can use it writing. These are all just notes to myself. So I remember stuff.
Ideally, I can push myself and have a first complete draft of a feature-length World of Missing Persons before the new year. That is my goal.
